Services for teacher killed in murder-suicide are Saturday

MARION, Ill. (AP) - Services are scheduled for a Jonesboro schoolteacher who authorities say was fatally shot by her husband in a murder-suicide.

Aldersgate United Methodist Church on Saturday will host an 11 a.m. service for 43-year-old Amy Blaise. Burial will follow at Bolton-Trammell Cemetery near Stonefort.

Authorities say 42-year-old Daniel Blaise shot his wife to death late on Jan. 30 before turning the gun on himself at the couple's rural home.

The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reports that Amy Blaise received a bachelor's degree in special education from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale in 2013. Shortly after, she began teaching special education in 3rd through 5th grades at Jonesboro Elementary School.

Daniel Blaise was a commodities trader. He and Amy Blaise have three young sons.

Daniel Blaise's services will be private.
