Southeast Texas' Earl Thomas lines up in Super Bowl

ORANGE, Texas (AP) - One pocket of Southeast Texas will be rooting hard in the Super Bowl for the Seattle Seahawks and native son Earl Thomas III.

Born in Orange, Thomas went on to star at the University of Texas and now plays safety in the Seahawks' celebrated secondary, nicknamed the "Legion of Boom." Earl Thomas Jr. tells the Beaumont Enterprise (http://bit.ly/1yqCgE0) that seeing his son in the Super Bowl twice in a row after winning it last year is "a dream come true for a parent."

Thomas Jr. says he squandered his own opportunities as a child, but wanted to make sure his son wouldn't do the same.

Thomas bought a house for his parents near Orange, east of Beaumont. He also participates in a free youth football camp in each year.
