Everton beats Crystal Palace 1-0 in Premier League

LONDON (AP) - Romelu Lukaku's early goal gave Everton a 1-0 win at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Saturday, handing Alan Pardew his first loss since taking over the London club.

Lukaku tapped in from close range after Palace goalkeeper Julian Speroni could only parry a cross from Steven Naismith into the striker's path in the second minute.

It was Everton's first win in nine games in all competitions, and put the team three points clear of Palace in 12th place, with 26 points from 23 rounds.

Palace came close to equalizing shortly after the goal but Phil Jagielka cleared the ball off the line after a flick by Dwight Gayle.
