Areas of Indiana expecting up to 15 inches of snow Sunday

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) - The National Weather Service has increased the amount of snow northern Indiana can expect to receive to 10 to 15 inches.

That's up from an earlier prediction of 6 to 12 inches. The weather service has issued a winter storm warning that begins 7 p.m. Saturday and lasts until 4 a.m. Monday. The heaviest snowfall is expected to occur during the day Sunday. The weather service warns that blowing and drifting snow may make driving difficult or impossible and that some unplowed roads will become impassible.

Central and eastern Indiana are under a winter storm watch. The weather service estimates the Indianapolis metropolitan area could receive 3 to 5 inches of snow, with lesser amounts to the south.
