Chicago police seize cocaine worth nearly $7M

CHICAGO (AP) - Authorities have charged a 28-year-old Chicago man after seizing 119 pounds of cocaine with an estimated street value of nearly $7 million.

Juan Roberto Vazquez was charged with one felony count of possession of a controlled substance and one misdemeanor count of driving without a license. Vazquez also was cited with driving without insurance and not using a turn signal.

Chicago Police released a statement saying that narcotics officers were investigating Vazquez when they saw him allegedly placing two heavy suitcases into his vehicle Friday afternoon. Police stopped him for a traffic violation and say Vazquez couldn't produce a driver's license.

Police later recovered 90 brick-like objects containing cocaine. It's not immediately clear if Vazquez has an attorney. He's in custody and was scheduled to appear in bond court Saturday.
