Central Illinois town regains its grocery store

MORRISONVILLE, Ill. (AP) - The central Illinois town of Morrisonville, which is home to about 1,000 residents, lost its only grocery store in 2012.

The State Journal-Register in Springfield reports (http://bit.ly/1wFoZpg ) that changed last week when a local couple - Larry and Susan Langen - opened Sixth Street Market. Their store sells groceries and serves a daily lunch special. Business is good with customers driving in from 20 and 30 miles away.

Susan Langen is a former school teacher. She and her husband farm and run an excavating business.

They built the store on the site of the last grocery, Stewart's IGA. Their Sixth Street Market has a deli, produce, fresh meat and a kitchen counter.

Morrisonville Mayor Alice Downing says the store brings new life to the town along with about 20 jobs.
