NY firm sends 5,000 Super Bowl pizzas to US troops overseas

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - A western New York food products company has pitched in to make sure U.S. troops serving in Afghanistan have plenty of pizza for Super Bowl Sunday.

Buffalo-based Rich Products Corp. has donated 5,000 frozen pizzas to Pizzas 4 Patriots, an organization that has sent tens of thousands of pizzas to U.S. military personnel serving overseas.

Company officials say the group contacted them over the holidays about helping get Super Bowl pizzas to American troops serving in Afghanistan. Rich produced 5,000 frozen pizzas at its plant in Crest Hill, Illinois, and DHL delivered the pies to Bagram Air Base.

The pizzas will be cooked before Sunday's kickoff and distributed to troops at various military bases.
