GE Aviation boosting investment in Lafayette engine plant

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (AP) - GE Aviation is increasing the investment it's making in the jet engine manufacturing plant it's building in Lafayette.

The company announced Thursday it will add engine maintenance at the site, increasing its investment by $15 million and 30 jobs.

GE Aviation announced plans for the $100 million plant last in March, saying it anticipated having more than 200 workers within five years.

Project leader Eric Matteson says the new jobs and investment will position the Lafayette plant to play a pivotal role across the entire life cycle of an engine.

The plant is expected to open next year in a Lafayette industrial park.
