Panel formed to search for new SIU-Carbondale chancellor
CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) - A search committee has been set up to help Southern Illinois University in Carbondale find its next chancellor by the time the fall semester starts.
Randy Dunn has been serving as the campus' overseer since interim chancellor Paul Sarvela died of cancer in November.
Dunn has appointed a search committee co-chaired by Carl Flowers, the director of the university's Rehabilitation Institute, and Meera Komarraju, chairwoman of and professor in the psychology department.
Dunn says the 18-member committee will meet this week.
Sarvela worked at SIU for 28 years, including as a faculty member, dean and associate vice president. He was named interim chancellor last July after former Chancellor Rita Cheng left to become president of Northern Arizona University.
