Bowling Green sneaks by Northern Illinois, 56-46

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio (AP) - Richaun Holmes scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Bowling Green to a 56-46 victory over Northern Illinois on Tuesday night.

Zach Denny finished with 13 points and three steals, and Anthony Henderson added 11 points and six boards for the Falcons (13-5, 5-2 Mid-American), who are now 5-0 this season when coming off a loss in their previous game.

Defensively, Bowling Green held Northern Illinois to 36.2 percent shooting from the field including 2 of 12 from 3-point range.

Bowling Green led just 21-20 at halftime, but a 13-2 run midway through the second half capped off by a Denny layup and two Henderson free throws increased its lead to double digits and put the game away.

Aaron Armstead scored 12 points off the bench to lead Northern Illinois (8-10, 2-5).
