Hartland high school students visit with therapy dogs

HARTLAND, Wis. (AP) - A high school in Waukesha (WAW'-kih-shaw) County is hosting visits from therapy dogs to help students cope with the stress of finals week.

Hundreds of freshmen and sophomore students at Arrowhead High School in Hartland spent time with nine certified therapy dogs during a study hall. The dogs were so popular among students with test anxiety that the school decided to bring them back for finals week in the spring to visit with juniors and seniors.

One student tells WISN-TV (http://bit.ly/1Btv510 ) the therapy dogs help him do better on tests because contact with the animals allows him to shift his focus.

The dogs were isolated from students with pet allergies and were provided at no cost by volunteers.
