Police: Wallet leads to arrests in Monroe-area robbery

MONROE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Police have arrested two suspects after one of them left his wallet behind during an armed robbery at a Monroe-area gas station.

Police say that 19-year-old Cody Wilson of Woodhaven left his wallet on the counter early Saturday morning after initially asking to buy cigarettes. The station is in Monroe County's Monroe Township.

They say 20-year-old Derek Beach of Wayne County's Redford Township entered the gas station and pulled a gun on the female clerk.

State police 1st Lt. Tony Cuevas tells the Monroe News (http://bit.ly/1JvvdRx ) the suspects demanded money and fled after receiving it but left the wallet behind.

Wilson and Beach were arraigned Monday on armed robbery charges in Monroe District Court. They requested court-appointed lawyers and remain jailed on $250,000 bonds awaiting another court appearance next week.
