Homicide case after nursing home patient, 83, dies from fall

BRIDGMAN, Mich. (AP) - Police say they launched a homicide investigation after an 83-year-old resident of a southwestern Michigan nursing home died from injuries he received when another resident knocked him to the floor.

Bridgman police Chief Daniel Unruh says his department got notice Monday that Floyd Perham died from head injuries he sustained Friday at West Woods of Bridgman Nursing Home.

Unruh says that Perham was conscious when he was taken to Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph but died two days later.

The chief says he won't immediately release information about a suspect.
