Western Illinois University hires technology director

MOLINE, Ill. (AP) - Western Illinois University has hired a former University of Illinois administrator to be its new technology director at its Quad Cities campus.

The (Moline) Dispatch reports (http://bit.ly/1ycNomm ) former University of Illinois Linux systems administrator Jeff Calhoun began his duties this month. Calhoun is a former vice president of technology at the McDonough Telephone Cooperative. Officials say he has more than 25 years of technology experience including website design, software development, and network administration.

He'll be responsible for managing and implementing the school's technology infrastructure and IT support services at the Moline campus.
