Education is the key to a better life

Just couldn't pass up the opportunity to congratulate Ralph Martire, Executive Director of the Center for Tax and Budget Accountability, for his recent Op Ed piece regarding the best way to improve the Illinois economy. His logical, fact-based research regarding the best approach to meaningful, long term economic growth in the State unequivocally points to thoughtful investment in public education.

A recent University of Massachusetts study found that investing more in public education demonstrably "raises state GDP, increases employment and bumps personal income." His reflection on the outcome in Kansas, where the current governor succeeded in passing major tax cuts in 2012, was startling: not only did they not generate any job growth, they actually lost employment through the first half of 2014. I think we all know that education is always the key to a better life: let's walk that talk!
