Hobson helps Milwaukee past Harper

Led by Jabari Hobson's 17 points and 16 more from Melvin Brown, Milwaukee Area Technical College's men's basketball team earned a 79-72 win Saturday at Harper in North Central Community College Conference play.

The win was the second for Milwaukee (17-4) this week. An earlier win over Madison Area Technical College may have been a springboard for the visitors.

"We played with intensity (Wednesday)," said MATC coach Randy Casey. "It kind of rolled over into today."

To Harper coach Justin Welke, it boiled down to effectiveness with shooting the ball.

"They made shots," he said "We didn't make shots. I thought our guys played hard."

Davion Benton and Admir Suljic accounted for nearly half of the Harper scoring. Benton, a freshman, scored a game-high 20 points. Suljic struggled some from 3-point range (3-for-11) but still finished with 15 points.

Devonta Jones contributed 14 points and Robert Hudson (Conant) had 8 for Harper; both Benton and Suljic had 7 rebounds.

Casey has been pleased with the play of Hobson, along with the post combo of Brown and Austin Dunbar (14 points, off the bench). Allante Washington (16 points) also reached double figures for the Stormers.
