Area Girl Scouts participate in 'Arctic Adventure'

There were plenty of hands-on winter activities for area Girl Scouts and their friends on Saturday in Vernon Hills.

Scouts from the Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana gathered at their Vernon Hills office on Lakeview Parkway and partnered with the Girl Scouts Northern Illinois in an "Arctic Adventure" event.

The four-hour free event included girls practicing their winter camping skills, making snow, making silly poses in a photo booth and building items alongside Legoland employees. Attendees were asked to make a donation of winter hats or gloves. CEOs from both councils were on hand to interact with the girls.

Girl Scouts of Greater Chicago and Northwest Indiana affects the lives of more than 61,100 girls and nearly 21,000 adults in 245 communities. For information, visit www.girlscoutsgcnwi.org.
