Couple waives extradition in connection with homicide

KENOSHA, Wis. (AP) - A couple arrested for shoplifting in southern Wisconsin has waived extradition to Alabama in connection with a homicide investigation.

Stephanie Underwood and Matthew Thrasher were arrested last week in Kenosha (ken-OH'-shah) County and accused of stealing energy drinks and vodka from a grocery store. A Kenosha police officer questioned the couple about the car they were driving because it was registered to a missing man in Alabama.

Authorities say the couple eventually told police David Hayes had been beaten, perhaps fatally. Detectives in Alabama located the man's body based on the couple's information. A man suspected in the homicide was arrested in Alabama.

The Kenosha News (http://bit.ly/1E9ydCU ) says the two are awaiting extradition. Court records don't list an attorney for Thrasher. A message left for Underwood's attorney after hours was not immediately returned.
