Effort continues to identify baby dead at recycling center

ROSEVILLE, Mich. (AP) - Authorities working to identify the body of a newborn boy found in a suburban Detroit recycling center say they're hopeful they'll soon resolve the case.

Roseville police Chief James Berlin says detectives are returning Friday to the Roscommon, Midland and Arenac county areas. The search focused there because of mail, newspapers and other material inside the container in which the baby apparently was placed.

Roseville investigators were in Midland and Bay counties Wednesday speaking with law enforcement, Child Protective Services workers and others.

Investigators say the baby found Jan. 14 was between 1 and 3 days old. Workers discovered the body bundled in cloth as it came down a sorting line. Police earlier said DNA tests showed no link between the newborn and a baby missing in the Lansing area.
