Naperville's Ribfest bringing The Band Perry in for July 5 finale

Naperville's Ribfest is taking its country music up a notch this year, bringing The Band Perry to perform on the festival's final day - Sunday, July 5.

The Band Perry, a sibling trio from Greeneville, Tennessee, gained country music fame in 2010 with the hit "If I Die Young," followed by other popular songs "All Your Life," "You Lie," "Hip to My Heart" and "Postcard from Paris."

The country group is the first band to be announced for this year's Ribfest, which runs July 2 through 5 at Knoch Park in Naperville.

"This is one of our attempts to take our music up a level from last year," said Don Emery, Ribfest marketing chairman.

Tickets for The Band Perry's show go on sale Feb. 1 at ribfest.net. Emery said he expects a broad range of fans will want to see frontwoman Kimberly Perry perform along with her younger brothers Reid and Neil.

"It's always hard to find the right balance between really A-list country stars that we can afford, and this is a well-regarded band that's got really broad appeal," Emery said. "People of all ages like them and their music is really accessible."

With a rock-inspired Southern sound, The Band Perry has been nominated for a 2015 Grammy in the Best Country Duo/Group Performance category for the trio's version of the classic country song "Gentle on My Mind."

"This is a great way to end the Ribfest on July 5," Ribfest chairman Bob Pschirrer said in a news release, "with one of the best country bands in the country."
