Police: Man tried to choke teen inside Hanover Park McDonald's
Hanover Park police are searching for a man in his 50s accused of trying to choke an 18-year-old in a McDonald's restaurant.
The teen was not injured, and there were no weapons used, said police, who are calling the man a battery suspect.
The man "grabbed onto" the teen, who was with his girlfriend, inside the fast-food chain Jan. 16, Deputy Chief Andy Johnson said. He let go only after a person screamed. The man then ordered food and left before police arrived to the McDonald's at 1050 Lake St., Johnson said.
It isn't clear what provoked the confrontation, but the teen told police there was an "exchange of words" beforehand, Johnson said.
The man is described as white, 5-foot-5 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds with blonde hair. Anyone with information is asked to call police at (630) 823-5500.
