Renovation bids open for Vanderburgh County courthouse

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - Vanderburgh County officials have begun reviewing bids for the renovation of the third floor at the 126-year-old courthouse in downtown Evansville.

The Evansville Courier & Press (http://bit.ly/1ulSjBj ) reports bids were opened Tuesday by commissioners during a meeting for the three-person executive county board. Three local companies already have submitted bids ranging from nearly $168,000 to more than $180,000.

The third floor of the building is in need of painting, spot re-plastering and floor cleaning. The first and second floors have been renovated over the past two years.

Commissioners say $180,000 was spent to renovate the first floor, while the second floor renovation cost $172,000.

The bids will be evaluated by the county's architect and are expected to be awarded at the commissioner's meeting next month.
