Racine man found guilty of killing his wife

RACINE, Wis. (AP) - A Racine man has been convicted of killing his wife in 2012 and setting the house on fire.

A judge Tuesday found 38-year-old Joseph Guerrero guilty of killing 21-year-old Bianca Vite. The two had married just six months before Vite was strangled at a Mount Pleasant house several days before Christmas in 2012.

Racine County Circuit Judge Tim Boyle found Guerrero guilty of first-degree intentional homicide, arson and mutilating a corpse. Guerrero's public defender, Adrienne Moore, says he should have been convicted of a lesser reckless homicide charge because there was no evidence he intended to kill his wife.
