Illinoi State coach Spack gets raise, contract extension

NORMAL, Ill. (AP) - Illinois State football coach Brock Spack is getting a raise and a contract extension after leading the Redbirds to the Football Championship Subdivision title game.

ISU Athletic Director Larry Lyons said Wednesday that Spack's salary will increase from the current $268,000 a year to $300,000. His contract is being extended two years through 2021.

Illinois State finished 13-2 and lost the national championship earlier this month to North Dakota State, 29-27. It was the Redbirds' first-ever trip to the national title game.

Lyons called Spack "a great fit" at ISU and "a gifted football coach."

Spack said he hopes to continue raising the profile of Redbird football.

In his six seasons at Illinois State Spack's record is 46-26.
