Naperville Plays event on Saturday

Get ready to be creative and have fun during Naperville Plays, a drop-in program for all ages.

Originally planned at the DuPage Children's Museum, the event has moved because of the cleanup efforts under way at the museum due to extensive water damage. Naperville Plays, organized by the museum and Naper Settlement, now will run 12:30 to 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the 95th Street Library, 3015 Cedar Glade Road, Naperville. Admission is free.

Participants will discover the wonder of play and innovation with activities including:

• Build It Big Engineering

• Magnatile science

• Thaumatropes

• Optical motion toys

• Aerospace engineering

• Pioneer Fun: toys and games

• Make your own recycled newspaper

• Shadow- and hand-puppet performances

• Hand sewing

• Chicago music favorite Carol Weston takes children through the American Song Bag. Everyone participates, singing and swinging through traditional children's favorites, songs from Appalachia, colonial times, and Broadway shows. The performance starts at 1 p.m.
