Bail set for Elgin man in chase:

Bail was set at $50,000 Monday for Claude R. Thompson, 23, of the 1300 block of Maroon Drive, Elgin, who was arrested Sunday in Elgin after police said he took them on a 45-minute chase in his car and then on foot. Thompson must post $5,000 bond to be released from jail while the charges are pending. Charges have not been filed against Thompson's passenger, police said. Thompson is charged with aggravated fleeing and eluding, marijuana possession and other traffic offenses. He faces anywhere from probation to three years in prison if convicted, and is next due in court Feb. 4.

Water district director needed:

Nominations will be accepted for the two-year term of the office of Director of the Kane-DuPage Soil and Water Conservation District at the district's office at 2315 Dean St., Suite 100, St. Charles, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. To be considered for nomination as a candidate for the office of Director, nominees must provide proof of residency or ownership of land located within the boundaries of the district. Harper Chamber Music Fest:

Harper College's 10th annual Chamber Music Festival will showcase more than 15 of the music department's most accomplished artist faculty performing great works from the classical chamber music repertoire. The concert, under the direction of Artistic Director Gregory Clemons and Conductor John Clemons, takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Performing Arts Center on the College's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road, Palatine. Works by Schubert, Paganini and others will be performed. Tickets are $10 to $15. Admission is free for kids 12 and younger. Pop-up at Side Street Studio:

Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court, Elgin, is seeking visual work of all mediums inspired by the idea of the "Terrible Twos" for a pop-up exhibition in celebration of the art studio's second anniversary. These works will be on display March 4 to 8. The work will be displayed on a first-come, first-served basis. To submit, email sidestreetstudioarts@gmail.com by Feb. 4 with "Terrible Twos Submission" in the subject line. No late submissions will be accepted. In addition to a digital photo or link to the work, the submitter must include name, street address, phone, email address, and the title, medium and dimension of the piece. Also include the cost of the work; sales policy available ahead of time, upon request. Performing artists also are welcome to be a part of the March 6 celebration.
