Founded in 1989, Montgomery-based Fox Valley Habitat is a nonprofit ministry that partners with working families in need of affordable housing. Volunteers have completed 50 units housing more than 200 people in Aurora, North Aurora and Montgomery. To raise funds to build more houses, Habitat operates a ReStore retail operation at 4100 Fox Valley Center Drive in Aurora's Westfield Shopping Center. The ReStore is a 28,000-square-foot retail outlet that offers new and used building and home-decorating materials to the public. Habitat, a nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, operates the store from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The Rev. Jeff Barrett, Habitat executive director and pastor of Genesis Community Church in Montgomery, said donations and volunteers are needed to help Habitat provide more affordable housing.
