Former Bobcat player elevated to co-defensive coordinator

BOZEMAN, Mont. (AP) - Kane Ioane, a former All-American defensive player at Montana State and an assistant coach for the past decade, has been promoted to co-defensive coordinator.

Montana State coach Rob Ash announced the move Friday. He says the promotion is a tribute to Ioane's hard work, loyalty and dedication to the Bobcat football program.

Ioane joins long-time MSU assistant Jamie Marshall in the co-coordinator role.

Ione joined the MSU staff in the fall of 2005 after being a four-year starter for the Bobcats. He was the Big Sky Conference defensive player of the year as a senior and remains the league's all-time leading tackler. The Billings native served as MSU's linebackers assistant from 2005-08 and has been the linebackers coach since 2009.
