Harper Chamber Music Festival to highlight classical favorites

Harper College's 10th annual Chamber Music Festival will showcase more than 15 of the music department's most accomplished artist faculty performing great works from the classical chamber music repertoire.

The concert, under the direction of Artistic Director Gregory Clemons and Conductor John Clemons, takes place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, at the Performing Arts Center on the College's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.

Works by Schubert, Paganini and others will be performed. With a faculty of more than 50 artists and scholars brought together from institutions throughout the world, every facet of Harper's program is guided by recognized expertise.

Performance faculty in the music department maintain active careers ranging from appearances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Grant Park Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic and Elgin Symphony Orchestra, to a wide variety of professional chamber ensembles and solo appearances. In addition to classical studies in music, the department also offers a full range of course offerings in the performance and study of jazz.

The program offers opportunities for both large and small ensemble performance, along with instruction in improvisation, jazz history and private instrumental and vocal study.
