Hernandez, No. 24 Rutgers women beat Wisconsin 73-63

MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Cynthia Hernandez scored 17 points to lead five Rutgers players in double figures as the No. 24 Scarlet Knights beat Wisconsin 73-63 on Sunday.

Kahleah Copper had 14 points and Betnijah Laney recorded her 12th double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds for Rutgers (13-5, 4-3 Big 10). Rachel Hollivay added 11 points and Tyler Scaife 10. The Scarlet Knights made just 27 of 71 (38 percent) field goals, but grabbed 21 offensive rebounds and forced 16 Wisconsin turnovers.

A 3-pointer by Jacki Gulczynski and a layup by Dakota Whyte pulled the Badgers (7-10, 3-4) within one with 12:12 to play, but Hernandez and Syessence Davis hit back-to-back 3's to spark a 19-6 run.

An 8-2 spurt trimmed Wisconsin's deficit to eight about four minutes later, but a free throw by Hollivay and a 3-pointer by Hernandez made it 69-57 with 1:56 remaining.

Whyte led Wisconsin with 17 points and Gulczynski added 13.
