Plenty of cold-weather fun at Vernon Hills' Winter Fest

Sometimes, the best way to tackle winter is to enjoy it. That's exactly what the Vernon Hills Park District did Saturday by hosting its annual Winter Fest.

The three-hour outdoor family event was held at Century Park North near the sled hill. Festivalgoers enjoyed ice skating, sledding, live ice sculpting and dog sled demonstrations.

A campfire kept everyone warm and concessions were available in the pavilion.
