Gerardo Parra and Brewers agree at $6,237,500

MILWAUKEE (AP) - Outfielder Gerardo Parra and the Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to a one-year contract for $6,237,500 and avoided arbitration.

The 27-year-old, whose agreement was announced Friday, was acquired from Arizona at last season's trade deadline. He hit .268 with three homers and 10 RBIs in 46 games for Milwaukee, and .261 with nine homers and 40 RBIs in 150 games overall in 2014.

Parra gave the Brewers a left-handed bat off the bench and another Gold Glove winner in the outfield to join center fielder Carlos Gomez.

Milwaukee's only other player in arbitration, backup catcher Martin Maldonado, agreed Thursday to a two-year deal worth $1.95 million.
