Quincy man accused of starting apartment building fire

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) - A Quincy man is accused of purposely setting a fire in an apartment building in his western Illinois hometown.

The Quincy Herald-Whig (http://bit.ly/152BQMv) reports that Adams County prosecutors have charged 21-year-old Braden Barnes with aggravated arson.

Authorities allege Barnes intentionally started the November blaze in an apartment of a building that has five units. Three of those apartments were occupied at the time of the fire, and their residents escaped unharmed.

Barnes was scheduled for a court appearance Friday.

Online court records don't show whether Barnes has an attorney.
