Chicago police announce arrest in December shooting

CHICAGO (AP) - Chicago police say they've charged a 19-year-old man in the December shooting of a 20-year-old man found dead on the city's South Side.

In a Thursday news release, the police department says Thomas Porter faces one felony count of first-degree murder. He was arrested without incident.

Authorities say Porter was playing a dice game when he allegedly shot his friend, Trevon Williams, around 9 p.m. at a residence on Dec. 23. The Cook County medical examiner's office pronounced Williams dead at the scene.

Prosecutors say the men had been friends for years. Porter was denied bond Thursday.

A listed number for Porter could not be located. It wasn't immediately unclear if he has an attorney.
