Police credit Facebook in arrest burglary suspects

AURORA, Ill. (AP) - Police officials say a Facebook post helped them to find two men who allegedly damaged a suburban Chicago private school during an early morning burglary.

The Aurora Police Department posted surveillance photos from Aurora Christian School, which was burglarized Dec. 31.

Police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said within hours, someone recognized the men and contacted Aurora Area Crime Stoppers with their identities.

Arrested Tuesday were Shawn Lopez and Avery Payne, both 21, of Aurora.

Ferrelli says Lopez was charged with burglary and criminal damage to a school. Payne has been charged with burglary. Bond was set Wednesday at $20,000 in Kane County Circuit Court. It wasn't immediately known if either man has legal representation.

Police recovered a computer and related equipment, athletic shoes and basketball shorts worth $3,235.
