'Ugly' sweaters spread good cheer

'Ugly' sweaters spread good cheer

I'm writing in response to the column you published Saturday, Jan. 3, "See sweaters as festive, not ugly."

I have been a registered nurse, RN-BS, for 40-plus years, practicing most of my career in long term care. My colleagues and I have worn "ugly sweaters" with each season change, but mostly during the Christmas holiday season.

The residents enjoyed this routine as much as those of us who wore the sweaters.

Television even has a commercial about "ugly sweaters."

Please help spread the good news that these lovely sweaters do a lot to spread cheer to those who are residents in nursing facilities and to those young children who are blessed to have teachers who also wear them.

I am speaking also for some of my colleagues in the nursing field.
