Aurora man gets 10 years for knife attack
A judge sentenced an Aurora man to 10 years in prison for forcing his way into a neighbor's home and attacking a person with a knife, Kane County state's attorney officials said.
Mark A. Charipar, 27, of the 700 block of Sexton Street, was sentenced Friday by Circuit Judge John A. Barsanti. Charipar pleaded guilty in November to home invasion, a Class X felony.
Charipar broke through a sliding-glass door at his neighbor's home and attacked the neighbor with a knife on Dece. 12, 2013, prosecutors said.
In addition to prison time, he was also ordered to pay his victim $3,290 in restitution. He's eligible for day-to-day sentencing and was credited with at least 395 days served in the Kane County jail, where he's been held since his arrest, officials said.
