Aurora man found guilty of sexually abusing child

A Kane County jury has convicted an Aurora man of molesting a child younger than 13, officials said.

Jose A. Rivas Lechuga, 38, of the 700 block of Columbia Street, was convicted Tuesday of two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, each a Class 2 felony.

He appeared in court on July 12, 2014, where prosecutors presented evidence that he abused a child he knew at his home.

Rivas Lechuga is due in court for sentencing Feb. 26. He faces a sentence ranging from probation to seven years in prison. He must also register as a sex offender for life.

He remains in Kane County jail, where he has been held since his arrest in lieu of $100,000 bail.
