DePaul University OKs contract extension for president

CHICAGO (AP) - DePaul University has extended its president's contract through the 2018-2019 academic year.

The university's board of trustees announced Monday that the Rev. Dennis H. Holtschneider is being rewarded for extraordinary leadership.

This is his third contract extension since he took over as the university's 11th president in 2004.

Board President William E. Bennett says Holtschneider is committed to a diverse student population and excellent education.

Some of the academic programs established under his leadership include the School of Hospitality, College of Communication and College of Science and Health.

Holtschneider also serves as the chairman of Ascension, a national Catholic and nonprofit health system.
