Chicago man arrested at O'Hare on pimping warrant

A 38-year-old Chicago man arrested at O'Hare International Airport last week on a 2013 pimping warrant was ordered held on $60,000 bail Tuesday.

Authorities say Jim Sacluti had fled the U.S. and was en route to the Philippines via Tokyo when Cook County sheriff's police arrested him Jan. 9.

On April 9, 2013, an undercover sheriff's police officer posted an escort ad to an online website as part of a Cook County sheriff's prostitution sting, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney David Shin. Sacluti responded, inviting the undercover officer to work for him after telling her he had been making his living as a pimp for 17 years, Shin said.

The undercover officer agreed to work for him on May 5, 2013. On May 6, another undercover sheriff's officer contacted Sacluti for an escort and arranged to meet the female undercover officer, his partner, at an Arlington Heights hotel.

After Sacluti took “proceeds” from the fictitious act of prostitution, police attempted to arrest him. But sheriff's officials say Sacluti eluded them and fled to the Philippines.

Sacluti's background includes a 2009 conviction for telephone harassment. The same year he was convicted of possession of cannabis and arranging for prostitution, both misdemeanors.

If convicted of the felony, Sacluti faces up to five years in prison.

He next appears in court on Feb. 4
