Grateful for police professionalism in Arlington Hts.

At a time when many law enforcements agencies are under fire across the United States we would like to commend the professional members of the Arlington Heights Police Department.

On the evening of Dec. 16 a cluster of squad cars blocked our shared driveways while their flashing lights stopped oncoming traffic.

When I asked why they were there, they were both polite and reassuring. No, there had not been an traffic accident nor a forced entry into a home - instead, the security system and the door lock at my neighbor's home had malfunctioned, which alerted the police. They came equipped for whatever they might find.

At that point the homeowner returned but the police had already secured the house after a complete search to guarantee her safe entry.

It is comforting to know that we live in a community which protects its citizens and we want the members of AHPD to know that.
