Get used to sight of drones overhead
Thanks for your stories about "drones," which are really called unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), the most common of which are small quad-copters and multi-copters equipped with little cameras.
Yes, anyone can buy one on the Internet and they are becoming quite popular. In the future, seeing these things fly over your neighborhood will be like seeing a delivery truck or an ambulance driving in your neighborhood.
Pilots are being trained, flight paths are being created, rules and regulations are being made, just as they were when automobiles were invented and then again after airplanes were invented. These things will be the new first responders in future crimes and emergencies.
Hobbyists just need to be educated about UAVs, and use common sense with respect for others.
I use mine with a camera and other controls to take stunning videos and still shots. I use it to capture golf courses, farms, properties, sunrises and sunsets. It gives you a whole different perspective and they are a heck of lot of fun to fly!
As far as these things crashing into people and causing harm, the same fears are there for bicycles, boats, cars and planes.
Hobbyists need to use common sense and self regulate. Don't let a few uninformed novices ruin it for the rest of us. There will always be concerns and naysayers, but you might want to get used to hearing and seeing UAVs flying through the air. The future is near, and it can be a lot of fun.
