Sentencing delayed for postal worker who admits thefts

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - A western Illinois postal worker will be sentenced next week after admitting in federal court that she stole mail including a debit card she used.

Thirty-one-year-old Abra Albrecht's was to have been sentenced Monday in U.S. District Court in East St. Louis, but a scheduling conflict pushed the hearing back to Jan. 20.

Albrecht pleaded guilty in September to one felony count of mail theft.

She admitted she stole mail while working at the Kampsville and Hardin post offices in February. Prosecutors say one of the stolen letters included a debit card that ultimately led to her arrest when she was seen using it on surveillance video.

Albrecht had been free on bond until a judge revoked It last month.

The status of her postal position wasn't immediately clear.
