More focus needed on Avon assessor

Why is the media giving Avon Township a pass and the public for that matter? The township assessor closed his office in September, laid off his employees and while they are in the unemployment line, the elected assessor gets to sit home and collect over $92,000 in compensation and benefits (according to information from a FOIA).

Villages, park districts, libraries and school districts who rely on proper valuation of property for revenue are also quiet.

A search of the Daily Herald archives tells a vague story.

How do you and I sign up for such a gig where I get to stay home and collect a taxpayer funded salary?
