Comedian, actor Patton Oswalt brings new book to Naperville

Comedian, actor and author Patton Oswalt visits Naperville to present his book, "Silver Screen Fiend," at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at North Central College's Wentz Concert Hall, 171 E. Chicago Ave. Presented by Anderson's Bookshop, the event is moderated by film critic and columnist Richard Roeper.

A huge film buff, Oswalt reveals that after moving to Los Angeles, between 1995 and 1999, he had an unshakable addiction to film. He will talk about the book during an hourlong program, after which he will answer questions from the audience and sign copies of the book.

Admission tickets are included with the purchase of "Silver Screen Fiend" from Anderson's Bookshop. For tickets, contact (630) 355-2665 or andersonsbookshop.com.

Fans have an additional opportunity to see Oswalt speak about his book at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 13, at Chicago's Standard Club, 320 S. Plymouth Court. Tickets for this luncheon event are $40 per person, available from Anderson's Bookshop; call for reservations.

Silver screen celluloid became Patton's life schoolbook, forming his notions of acting, writing, comedy and relationships. Set in the nascent days of the alternative comedy scene, Oswalt's memoir chronicles his journey from fledgling stand-up comedian to self-assured sitcom actor, with the colorful New Beverly collective supporting him along the way.

Timed for awards season, "Silver Screen Fiend" follows on the reception of Oswalt's New York Times best-selling debut, "Zombie Spaceship Wasteland."
