East St. Louis man found shot dead

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (AP) - Officials in East St. Louis have identified the first homicide victim of the year in the city.

Authorities say 46-year-old Stephan Mosley of East St. Louis was found face down and already dead on Tuesday afternoon. Police Chief Michael Floore tells the Belleville News-Democrat (http://bit.ly/1wVfdiH ) that Mosley was shot repeatedly and a suspect fled in a pickup truck driven by another person.

There were 24 homicides in East St. Louis last year.

Anyone with information in Mosley's death is asked to contact East St. Louis police or Illinois State Police. CrimeStoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
