Holiday hauntings agog in hucksterism

The last acceptable bigotry in the country is maligning Christianity (red meat for the press). A current example is the "Christmas Nightmare."

This new breed of hucksters cloak themselves in "for the children" wrappings. The Massacre Haunted House ad reads, "Bring a toy and $5." Very clever!

Would this enticement work for the notorious operation such as Planned Parenthood? Why not? Bring a toy and receive a $25 discount, $50 for an abortion. This thought leaves a bitter taste in the mouth, but it wouldn't be a crime. It is a legal moral wrong, yes, but not against the law.

To dishonor the name of God is condemned by all religions. The name of Christ used for acts of depravity, cursing or swearing false oaths is a grievous sin. I believe the Christmas Nightmare qualifies.

Why would they choose Christmas? Why not Hanukkah, Kawanzi or Ramadan. I suspect fear prevents them from crossing those sacred lines. The ADL, the Muslim Brotherhood and Jesse Jackson would be knocking on their door, injunction in hand, and a mass or protesters blocking the entrance of the house.

If the promoters want to please me, they should exhibit a real historical massacre. The slaughter of the Holy Innocent by King Herod following the news of Christ's birth. Estimates place the number of baby boys murdered - and 2 and younger - at 200. We remember their deaths on Dec. 28.

The questions to be asked are these: Why choose Christmas to despoil? And where do the readers of this letter draw their line in the sand?

In closing, think on Christ's words: "It is from the overflow of the heart that the mouth speaks and where your treasure is, you heart is also." Cultural change begins at home. Put Christ back in Christmas in your heart and your home.
