OSU hospital wraps babies in 'Beat Alabama' blankets

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The Ohio State University hospital is making sure that even the littlest Buckeyes fans get the proper gear.

Every baby born Thursday at OSU's Wexner Medical Center will be swaddled in a red blanket emblazoned with: "Beat Alabama. 1-1-15."

The Buckeyes, of course, play Alabama on Thursday night in the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans in the first college football playoff, with the winner going to the national championship game.

Hospital spokeswoman Eileen Scahill says the blankets are similar to the ones the newborns get on game days when Ohio State plays Michigan. She says 50 of the blankets are ready for the babies in the maternity ward on New Year's Day.

The newborns also will get Buckeyes hats.
