Cops probe crash that seriously injured Naperville woman

A police investigation continues into a two-car crash that seriously injured a 65-year-old Naperville woman Tuesday at the intersection of Route 59 and Leverenz Road in Naperville, authorities said Wednesday.

The injured woman, Lynn Schopler, was taken to Edward Hospital for treatment. The second driver, Geoffrey Basilio, 26, of Plainfield, was not injured in the crash.

Police said it appears Schopler was driving her 2000 Acura west on Leverenz when she was struck by Basilio driving a 2005 Scion south on Route 59. Investigators said there are no indications either driver was impaired.

The Naperville Police Department's traffic unit responded to the scene and the southbound lanes of Route 59 at Leverenz were closed for roughly 90 minutes as officers tried to reconstruct the crash.

Anyone who witnessed the accident or has information regarding it is asked to call police at (630) 305-5379 or email zookd@naperville.il.us.
