Kids, adults fight cabin fever with fitness challenge in Wheeling

What better cure for cabin fever than having 40 kids and adults jump, hop, and shimmy Monday to the Ultimate Health and Fitness Challenge at the Indian Trails Library District in Wheeling?

"These are programs we do during winter break to give the kids something to do," said Rose Johnson, youth services programmer for Indian Trails Library District.

The program Monday teamed kids and adults for various games that got them moving while also teaching the importance of staying active.

"This is all play time, while learning about health and fitness and moving at least 60 minutes a day. That's what all of my shows are about," said event organizer Brian Wismer of Brian Wismer Entertainment.

The event was popular with the children and parents who took part.

"This is great in the winter, just to do something active," said Carmen Larios of Buffalo Grove. "We've been doing a lot of sitting around at home watching TV, and this is a great way to be active, have some fun, and get out of the house for a little bit."
